Guidelines for Grant Applications
The Virden Area Foundation awards grants to support local needs and interests, which include, but are not limited to cultural, recreational, educational, health care, heritage, environmental and other charitable purposes. General granting guidelines include:
Recipients must be a:
⦁ Qualified donee
⦁ Registered charity, with a CRA number
⦁ Municipal government; or
⦁ Non-profit group with a formalized partnership with a registered charity or municipal government
Grants are approved for specific projects and purposes
The project must benefit the residents of the community.
Grants are made to Canada Revenue Agency registered charities only, never directly to individuals. Non-profit organizations that do not have a charitable registration number must have a qualified sponsor with which they have a formalized partnership through written agreement. The application must include confirmation of a written agreement between the sponsor and non-profit organization.
Deadline for applications is March 31st of the calendar year.
